New Invitation for Your Class – AND your Campus

Every Teacher enrolled in Camp Internet has been sent - by regular postal mail, to your home address - an invitation to Fall events. Have you received it? In addition, an open-to-guests version of this Newsletter is available for printing to share with fellow teachers on your campus. Mark the date events on your calendar and join in! Rock Art ? Archeoastronomy? Honoring our Ancestors? You are welcome to join in these group-wide activities October-December.

NEW: October Events to Prepare to Join

October holds three special events, in addition to your regular subject track activities:

Honored Ancestor and Halloween Storytelling Contest

   Each year we set October aside for a time to Honor our Ancestors by writing short biographies about someone in our Family’s history who accomplished something unusual or remarkable – or – the biography of someone from history that lead a life respected by a student. Some schools celebrate Halloween and also have the option to submit fun or spooky ghost stories (nothing too ghoulish or gruesome please). To post your Storytelling entries, go to the FIELD REPORTS section and enter Campwide, October 1-31. Winners of the Best Ancestor Story and Best Ghost Story will win learning materials that will be shipped to your classroom.

October’s Fun – our First Family Night of the School Year

Share Ancestor Stories – tell a little Family History – at our online October 30^th Family Night. Great for Homeschoolers too! From your home computers – or classrooms if able to open for an on campus Family Night – join us for a storytelling ‘round the Camp Internet electronic campfire. The Family Invitation for printing is in the Teacher’s Web and you can add any special instruction to the bottom of the document before printing. Join us online between  5-9pm PST in the FIELD REPORTS Family Room to read and share! (We suggest having students or families write their biographies in advance, and then post them as a paste from a word document during the session.)

Special Guest Chat – watch for news on who our honored Guest Scientist will be for a live Q&A session later in the month. Date and time will soon be announced.

Weekly Tip – Post Your First Short Field Report and DO a DIG!

We continue to welcome each classroom to post its ‘SCHOOL HELLO’ in your track’s Field Report Room – everyone wants to see who else is online in the program so please do introduce yourselves – where is your school ? how many students? We all want to hear from you!
