Camp Internet Briefing & News from the Director
November 8 - November 14, 2004

Timothy Tyndall - Director - Camp Internet

The Camp Internet American History Thanksgiving study unit is online and ready for use.

Go to : http://www.rain.org/campinternet/american-history/thanksgiving/ to begin study.

If your class does the special Acorn activity please send us in pictures and reports on how it turns out.

We have had Camp Internet chat sessions with two classes outside the U.S.. Last month we had a very informative and fun chat with the Director of the Community Wireless Network Project in Nepal and Monday evening, (Tuesday Morning China time) we had a very interesting chatsession with two teachers working in Hong Kong. We were able to talk about school in China, food, animals and what everyone is studying.

In Nepal Camp Internet has 4 classrooms, ranging in age from 9 to 18. In Hong Kong we have classes in 6th and 7th grades.

The links to those chat sessions will be posted later this week. Look for new chats with China and Costa Rica in December and January.

Winter Weather is here!

Now is the time to use the Camp Internet Weather Report Form. Your reports will become part of a GIS weather monitoring project for the 2004-2005 school year.

Go to: http://www.rain.org/campinternet/meteorology/campweatherform.html to use the Weather Report Form.

We encourage exploration of the Meteorology study unit during this season. Go to: http://www.rain.org/campinternet/meteorology to begin study in the Camp Internet Meteorology class.

The Camp Internet GATE class is one of the best ways to explore nearly all of Camp's different units. Woven into the GATE curriculum is an online exploration through the rich and diverse materials within Camp Internet. Goto: http://www.rain.org/GATE-web-2004 to check out the GATE class web. Have your students goto the GATE class web when they are working on Science Fair projects or other research.

Field Reports and GIS reports are beginning to come in from classes around the world. If you are working on the Global Garden curriculum and want to send in a Garden Field Report go to: http://www.rain.org/global-garden/garden-field-report-form.html

The Ocean Studies class has new units this week at: http://www.rain.org/ocean/

The Peace Studies class has new units in History and the Science of Peace.
