Camp Internet California Backcountry Teachers BriefingFebruary 22-25California : Turn of the Century Live Internet Dig The Dig for this week will be on the Rancho Era on Thursday the 24th from 9am-noon. This will wrap up the student's studies of Alta California in both the Islands and Backcountry tracks. Please rsvp to camp@rain.org. Backcountry Reading The new Jack London section is filling out online and can be found at http://www.rain.org/campinternet/backcountry/humanities/london/ . London lived in California for most of his life, and while famous for his adventure stories set in the far north, such as Call of the Wild, he also wrote stories that were centered in California. He had a great passion for the California landscape, particularly the wild untamed places. Backcountry History This week we will be polishing up the general California Artists area and suggest focusing on the San Francisco and Bohemian Grove section. In the weeks to come we will challenge students to learn about individual artists and will have the text and illustrations ready for their study - plus encouragement to complete their own art pieces that are inspired by the art they will be seeing online. Teacher Training We have previously posted in detail the invitation to attend the upcoming online Teacher Activity Forums. They are also listed on the calendars in the Teacher's Base Camp.
