TEACHERS ONLY - How to Create Your Own Internet Dig - try out the sample Dig in the Teacher's Chat room and then - create your own ! Guided steps provided to empower every teacher to create their own interactive Dig. We will showcase your work next month, so we ask EVERY TEACHER to test out a Dig in the Chat Room this month to perfect your end product.
History Focus
The GOLD RUSH - this is a fascinating period of California history full of hopes, fortunes and tragedies. We explore the golden years before the world rushed in when miners worked as brothers and sisters in the California backcountry, sharing tools and knowledge when there was so much gold it was not a fight for wealth. Along with the Gold Rush came the advent of California statehood - and very unusual event in American History as it occurred with out California being designated a territory, was influenced by the anti-slavery efforts in the east, and was crafted by a group of foresighted Californios ready to create a state government right then on the spot. 2000 marked the 150th birthday of California as an American State. Let's learn how it all started.

We ask that you get your weather station set up as soon as possible, and then devise a method to have students take turn taking readings from the station - daily if possible, weekly at the least - and certainly for any day there is precipitation.
Teachers - Learn How to Create Your OWN Internet Digs !!!
One of our teachers favorite online training sessions is How to Create your OWN Internet Dig ! We will walk you through suggestions for designing, researching, and building your own Dig. You can try it out in the Teachers Chat room, and for February we invite all participants to install their own completed Digs for fellow teachers to try out online. For March we will turn over a day to each of you to install your own Dig and showcase it to all of our students ! Show us your stuff !!!
