*INDIAN PROBLEM DIG - in the Student chat room all week, anytime - this one requires reading the historical documents and text - and then writing a 'letter' to Congress expressing each student's recommendations for improving the fate of California's First People. Think, consider and learn !

History Focus
The Camp has extensive Alta California resources ready for your use this month at http://www.rain.org/campinternet/backcountry/history/exploreland/ and we invite you to use the overview in Before the World Rushed In at http://www.rain.org/campinternet/backcountry/goldrush/before-world.html . From there you can take your students into studies of the first explorers of the California Backcountry - the mountain men, trappers, and wagon masters who first crossed the Sierras to bring families to California. The hardships were incredible, their courage amazing, and the results have shaped our State forever. We also include resources about the Mission and Rancho developments along the coast.
For reading we invite your students to become familiar with the legendary Zorro and his real life counterpart Joaquin Murrieta at http://www.rain.org/campinternet/backcountry/humanities/zorro/ and we will be adding one of the first original Zorro stories ever written - and never before on the Internet - to the Camp library later this month.

Come learn about how the latest technology helps weather centers around the world track and predict weather - and what conditions can prevail that make weather prediction nearly IMPOSSIBLE (as has been true lately).
Teachers - Learn How to Create Your OWN Internet Digs !!!
One of our teachers favorite online training sessions is How to Create your OWN Internet Dig ! We will walk you through suggestions for designing, researching, and building your own Dig. You can try it out in the Teachers Chat room, and then in early February we will invite all participants to install their own completed Digs for fellow teachers to try out online. Later in February we will turn over a day to each of you to install your own Dig and showcase it to all of our students ! Show us your stuff !!!
