Think, consider and learn ! *How to Create Your OWN Internet Dig in the Teachers Chat Room thru Feb 4th * Science projects - set up your weather station New This Week in Channel Island Region History We invite you to continue your studies of the Mission and rancho period at this general page http://www.rain.org/campinternet/channelhistory/missons/ and then delve deeper into the resources we offer on the Spanish and Mexican Eras - including the Literature section with Ramona and Zorro, plus period writings. You will be able to go into the Chat Archive to take the MISSION DIG featured last week, go on the LIVE Cal. Indian Dig this week - which is a Camp Challenge activity - and next week we will go on the Rancho Dig. These projects all help students learn more about life as its was in these pre-statehood years in Alta California and into the first decades of Statehood. We ask that you get your weather station set up as soon as possible, and then devise a method to have students take turn taking readings from the station - daily if possible, weekly at the least - and certainly for any day there is precipitation. Come learn about how the latest technology helps weather centers around the world track and predict weather - and what conditions can prevail that make weather prediction nearly IMPOSSIBLE (as has been true lately). Teachers - Learn How to Create Your OWN Internet Digs !!! One of our teachers favorite online training sessions is How to Create your OWN Internet Dig ! We will walk you through suggestions for designing, researching, and building your own Dig. You can try it out in the Teachers Chat room, and then in early February we will invite all participants to install their own completed Digs for fellow teachers to try out online. Later in February we will turn over a day to each of you to install your own Dig and showcase it to all of our students ! Show us your stuff !!!
