LIVE TRAIL GUIDE CHAT : Meet Rangers from the California State Parks on Tuesday February 20th 9-11am. Lead by Wes Chapin, who met a group of our teachers at the Painted Cave Monument one morning last summer, this Chat will introduce students to the natural and historic resources being preserved by California State Parks in the Channel Islands region. From the cove where pirates landed at Refugio, to the Presidio that out smarted these scoundrels, to the magical Painted Cave created by the Chumash up in the mountains, State Parks are preserving our heritage. PRESIDENTS DAY FEATURE : Learn about the presidential camping trip that began the National Parks effort in California. When Teddy Roosevelt invited John Muir to slip off on a private camping trip, American policy for preserving our natural heritage made a great leap forwards. Imagine yourself, as a teacher, building links to resources from the Internet to tell your students a story that gives them insight into the life and times of people from long ago. What will you tell them ? what will you show them ? What will you ask them ? What will they Learn ? this is the FUN of creating your OWN Internet Dig!
