FIRST
CONTACT DIG
Each
DIG we present is part of a story being told over the year. We
are now moving in that story from Native Peoples to FIRST CONTACT
with European Explorers. Please join us to discover who the first
explorers were to arrive in the Channel and to read about their
discoveries – and encounters with the Native Peoples.
ASTRONOMY
EVENTS
As
was outlined in the Campwide DIG, this month is our Archaeoastronomy
Month and our special event will be December 12-13. You can printout
the flyer at www.campinternet.net/astro2002,
or request it as a word document so you can modify it for your
own class needs. If you want to open your doors for a very popular
FAMILY NIGHT, please RSVP to camp@campinternet.net. Families can also
participate from a home computer. If you assign your students
to identify a specific constellations as evening homework, then
they can come report live in the discovery chat room to tell us
what constellation/s they found! We also welcome art work or telescope
photos of the night sky, and star lore essays or short stories
as postings.
December
–January Student Showcase
For
the next two months, we are changing the FIELD REPORT ROOMS under
each Expedition Track to become a center for you to POST your
student’s Fall work. Please make sure each entry includes students
and school name in the Your Handle box. And if you have not yet
done your SCHOOL INTRO, you can still add those too. Any / all
formats / types of reports are welcome.
These
are very important self-publishing activities for student skill
building AND become an important part of our Camp Internet GIS
map so showcase your student work PROUDLY!
