ROCK ART DIG and LIVE CHAT

Try out the Rock Art Dig and visit the online Rock Art Gallery. Get to know these amazing communication forms – who made them, how and why? Also join us for the LIVE TRAIL GUIDE CHAT with William Hyder from UC Santa Cruz, past president of the American Rock Art Research Association. If you can not attend the live session, send your class questions ahead of time and we will post on your behalf. Then check back for the answers later. Please RSVP to camp@campinternet.net . Tentative date is Thursday the 14th and time for chat will be announced as he is on the road, but we expect mid morning.

Guidelines for TRAIL GUIDE CHAT participation:

1. Please introduce students to Mr. Hyder using his online bio IN ADVANCE of
the session so they understand who they will be sending questions to. His bio is
on the TRAIL GUIDE WEB at http://www.rain.org/campinternet/trailguides/

2. Have students compile a set of six questions as a classroom, in advance.

3. When chat begins - announce in the chat room that your class has arrived (and include teacher name, school name, and city/state), and be sure each student who posts a question puts their name and school name in the 'handle box.

4. All questions posted need to be on-topic and related to Rock Art studies. It
is okay to prepare more than six questions, but let students know that they
should post 1-6 first and see if he has time to answers those before posting
more.

5. Since ONE scientist will have to answer MANY questions, students should be
shown how to use the provided links at the top of the chat room view the Rock Art Gallery and Dig while they wait to see a response to one or more of their questions. No need to have a lull if they follow the links provided.

Students receive a LOT of value from these sessions, so jump on in and enjoy the stimulating Q&A !
