Laurel and Hardy

In 1925, a silent movie, " Half a Man’, starring Stan Laurel, was filmed on Catalina using the rugged island as a back drop for a ‘desert’ island. In the movie, Laurel becomes ‘king’ of the island, and is surrounded by dozens of beautiful women.

In 1927, Stan Laurel teamed up with Stan Hardy, and the famous Laurel and Hardy comedy team was born. Both comedians of silent and talking movies vacationed on Catalina, enjoying local parades, golf, and fishing with their wives and friends.
