Tom Mix

Tom Mix was a cowboy / actor / stunt man whose first big break was due to a role in Catalina-islander Zane Greyof the Purple Sage". Mix actually bought a house on Avalon, and much to the annoyance of his neighbors - including Zane Grey - flashed his initials in lights and paint on the roof line. Mix also owned a Hollywood mansion and made over 300 movies. While on Catalina, he joined the sports fisherman's Tuna Club, and enjoyed sailing in he Channel. He moved from film acting to operating a traveling Wild Animal Show on the mainland after the 1930s.
