Camp Internet
Distance Learning Project
High School Options
Creating a New Learning Technology Class
The most direct way to manage participation in Camp Internet for
9th-12th grade levels is to schedule a new
multi-disciplinary Learning Technology class hosted by a
computer-comfortable teacher, working with the Camp's online mentors -
scientists and historians, and with possible teams of on-campus specialist
teachers. This Learning Technology class would meet daily or weekly and
work through the multi-disciplinary Camp curriculum together through out
the school year. If possible, teachers with related specializations could
be brought in for the specific subject matter - for example, in the Fall,
the History or Social Studies teacher would assist the class, and in the
Winter / Spring, the science teacher would assist the class. To ideally
manage this technique, there would need to be a main teacher available
consistently every day - perhaps a technology specialist - whose role
would be to keep the program on-track, invited teachers present and
prepared, and interface with families and community several times a year.
We would like to see all teachers involved attend the summer training
session, but if that is not possible, then the host teacher should attend
and then be responsible for training the other teachers
