Year Round Program Management Support

The Camp recognizes that teachers require year round assistance to optimize their use of the Camp online and hands-on resources. The staff at the Camp who will be working closely with the teachers during the school year include the Education Development Director, the Camp Counselors, and community / County School volunteers who have been recruited and trained to provide technical and program support. Each teacher will be joining an online community of educators dedicated to assisting their classrooms in fully enjoying the Technology Literacy learning process and unique virtual environment.

The main vehicle for teacher support is the private camp-teachers-l listserv that is open by invitation only to participating teachers, This listserv will deliver weekly updates to the teachers, offering support for the most effective implementation of the program materials, for creative uses for the technology, and examples of other classroom's effective integration of the program into the classroom environment.

CTAP Region 10 and 8 are being provided with a team of 4 part time Camp Counselors who will be working directly with the teachers in the school whenever possible, and who will be coordinating the two Parent Night activities in the Fall and Spring. These counselors will be trained to provide technical support ( such as software installation, video camera integration, user Id and password changes, etc. ), and program support ( such as implementing the hands-on activities in conjunction with the online activities, preparing for the Science and History Fair program ).

The technology enables the Camp to better serve the teacher's needs by providing a 24 hour a day question and answer board, online staff development support, and linkage to other teachers, classrooms and parents. The teachers will also receive special private communications from selected Trail Guides, preparing them for facilitating the student's interaction with their online mentors.
