Pinpoint funds that can cover enrollment costs for
Camp Internet 2002-2003

Teachers - Knowing what funding to ask your Principal or District about is the first step in locating funds to cover Camp Internet enrollment. Below is a list of funding opportunities that all lead to supporting your and your classroom's activities with Camp Internet, organized by State.

Districts and Principals - The new Federal ESEA appropriations plan includes support for 'Enhancing Education Through Technology'. This program will be changing how technology and training funds are distributed nationwide. If you are a Title I school, this promises significant reforms and brings technology and professional development funding right to your level for the first time. Title I schools, click here Camp Internet can also be funded by Title I, II, VI or VIII to help you meet the requirements for those entitlements. We emphasize Professional Development, Student Achievement, and Parent Involvement.

Erate - contact us about our web-based Email services that are Erate eligible and can provide valuable Camp Internet learning activities at no additional cost. Applications are due December 2002 for school year 2003-2004 and offer excellent discounts for services.

California Funding

AB 1339 ETSD Educational Technology Staff Development funding provides 4th-8th grade teachers with technology professional development opportunities. These funds are applied for by the DISTRICT. 100% of Camp costs can be covered by these funds so let your PRINCIPAL know about the funding opportunity to see if the district is applying, AND, to make sure the people filling for the district know there is a SPECIFIC SCHOOL SITE need for these funds. You will need to let your Principal know you would like to see a share of these funds applied directly at your classroom level or, in many cases, the funding remains at the district level for general programs. The online portion of this application must be completed by March 1, 2002

AB GATE Gifted and Talented Education funding brings a minimum of at least $2500 to every school for services to GATE students. Applications for K-12, submitted by the District/LEA, are due June 1, 2002 and your GATE cluster can become a full participating group with Camp Internet. AB 64 Digital High TSST Funds are for Technology Support and Staff Training and 100% of Camp costs can be covered by these funds for 9th-12th grade teachers. The funds do renew annual upon application, so locate your Digital High coordinator to request that a portion of he funds be devoted to the specific Camp Internet program enrollment costs.

SB 1139 ITSD Instruction Time and Staff Development Program funding can be applied for by your district every year for teachers grades K-12, and provides funding, per teacher, to cover full enrollment costs for Camp Internet. $224 million available. Each year the district can sponsor training July 1 - June 28. There may still be unused ITSD funds at your district - that must be spent by June 28, 2002 - that would allow you to attend June 2002 Camp Internet training and then participate from the classroom 2002-2003. AB1X PAR Peer Assistance and Review Program is applied for to fund Mentor Teachers at school sites. Camp Alumni can become mentor teachers under this program - training other teachers on how to use online educational technology. Annual funding, per identified mentor teacher of $1,000 each can fund a full Camp subscription including services to help train other teachers who also enroll in Camp activities. Charter Schools have access to many of these same state funding sources and also have the advantage of strong parent involvement and innovative learning goals which ties in perfectly with Camp Internet's teaching methodologies.

Technology Literacy Challenge Grant will not fund Camp Internet services this year but will allow your school to upgrade its hardware to then become eligible for the AB1339 Educational Technology Staff Development funds (AB1339). Encourage your school to apply for these funds now to increase the number of computers on campus and then you can apply for the ETSD in future years. Due April 15, 2002 . Title I School/Program Achievement funding focuses on STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS and PARENT INVOLVEMENT and so does Camp Internet. Title II Eisenhower Professional Development funding is specifically focused on math and science teacher training and Camp's GPS/GIS year round teacher training program qualifies for full funding from Title II sources. Title VI Innovative Education Program Strategies Program funding is specifically focused on at-risk youth services, encourages parent involvement, and provides a minimum of $3889 per school site. Camp has shown proven academic improvement results for at-risk students and would like to see more use of Title VI to increase at-risk youth participation. Instructional Materials Funds can be used to fund Camp Internet's supply kit and online curriculum resources using funds appointed by your Principal. This amounts to an average of $500 of the enrollment costs.

Arizona Funding

Title I Student Achievement Funds focus on STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS and PARENT INVOLVEMENT and so does Camp Internet and we also are aligned with State standards - another Title I funding area. "Funds can be used for supplemental instruction, parental involvement activities, coordination activities, and other activities that improve the overall quality of instruction at the school." Your Principal can elect to use Title I funds to cover classroom participation costs in Camp Internet. Due June 30, 2002. State of New Mexico funding is under consideration through HB 28 and SB 198 to increase state funds for Indian Education.

Texas Funding

"Formula Grants - An application for all formula entitlement programs is automatically mailed to each school district in preparation for the subsequent school year. School districts may choose not to accept the formula funds. Those school districts that choose to accept the funds are required to submit a Standard Application System (SAS) to TEA."
