2 Visit the Trail Guide web sites that we will be touring during the summer - you will
go to an average of 3 of theses sites determined by your subject track.
These field events are designed to allow you to gather data, images, drawings and
impressions as active observers. You will then come back to the computer lab and
construct an online field report, with images, to document your field learning.
This exercise will be repeated during the year with your classroom at least twice
using the tools and skills you gain this summer.

3 Get familiar with the GIS resources currently on Camp Internet as this new technology
will be featured every day of your workshop session. http://www.rain.org/gis/
4 Bring ample bottled water for indoor and outdoor use, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, walking shoes
and loose comfortable clothing. The group dinner is at a casual outdoor restaurant and if you
wish to change for dinner to casual evening clothes, bring with you that morning and the
Camp headquarters will provide a restroom area for changing, or you can return to the hotel.
5 If available, bring a portable computer and you will be provided with data ports in room and a
local dial account to get on the Internet. Evening hours are used for writing up a field report and
practicing new skills when a computer is available. Bring along a notebook and pencils and pens.
If you watercolor or sketch, bring along art supplies. Digital cameras are suggested.
6 When carpooling to field locations, teachers will work together to conserve resources by sharing
rides, so double check you car insurance in case you will be a driver. Teachers accept personal
responsibility for safety at all times.
7 COME WITH A SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE ! This is one of the most important qualities for an
educator to successfully meet the challenges of the training - and - translate these new skills
into the classroom to enhance student learning. There are many new activities planned this
year that will challenge new and alumni Campers alike - be prepared to LEARN!
