Let's Give Thanks !
1. Come Enjoy Camp's THANKSGIVING NATIVE ART WEEK !! We have the new Rock Art Gallery up and the new Indian Basket Gallery will also be opening. Bring your students to these great new image libraries and then invite them to consider the Native People's vital role in feeding the first pilgrims. We welcome you to host art projects in your class and then send us scans or hard copy of the best works so we can build a Student Art Gallery for this year's participants. We also have a Thanksgiving Mark Twain feature in Global Gardens that includes Twain's acerbic comments about America's subsequent treatments of the Indians … let's bring it full circle and honor our continent's FIRST PEOPLE. 2. FAX BACK your CSU STIPEND page if you are qualifying California Public School teacher and want to be included in this funding opportunity. If you need a copy, call the office at 1-800-889-2823. We have sent them out by email to this listserv, and faxed to your individual school sites, so hope you are preparing to return them this week - DEADLINE is NOVEMBER 19th. Fax to 805-899-8698 3. VIEW your fellow Teacher's SCHOOL INTROS now filling up the FIELD REPORTS --CAMPWIDE room under #3 on the main portal. We have been asked to extend the time for teachers to post these intros as a group of new teachers is entering training this month. Teachers can now post their SCHOOL INTROS in this room 5-9pm, and the room will be read-only for students 8am-5pm. POST YOUR INTROS by the END OF THE MONTH please. A link to instructions will remain in the Teacher's Web - Chat room. Bring your students in to learn about one another, 8-5, 'til end of month! (LAUSD teachers can join the informal live, face-to-face training sessions for this exercise at LACOE lab Nov 28th, 3:15-4pm.) 4. Rock Art DIG - to compliment our Rock Art feature we are continuing the ROCK ART DIG this week - all tracks are invited to use the CAMPWIDE DIG on Rock Art. We will post images with Channel, California Backcountry, Southwest and Garden origins to make this a fun Campwide activity relevant to all tracks. Come DIG the Internet ! UPCOMING NEWS - Next Week Mark your calendars for our INDIAN BASKET live chat on Tuesday the 27th 10am. Come learn how these beautiful objects were made and who takes care to preserve them today. November Family Night is the 29th and will be the first of two ASTRONOMY NIGHTS - invitations to attend can be printed and sent home to families. Come read the Indian star lore and then step outside to try to identify a constellation. Families then come back online and tell us what stars they were able to find in their night sky. Next Astronomy Night will be January 31st. Open your class, lab, or have families join from home of library computers! Let's get the generations learning together. NEW in the TEACHER'S CHAT ROOM Inside
