Southwest
Briefing
Sept
17-21
Greeting
Campers
This
week we begin our study of Southwest Geography to grasp the breadth
of the land being studied in our coming activities. This week's DIG
on the Southwest Landscape is a great help in understanding the five
regions of the Southwest - biological and geographic - that know no
state or national boundaries.
The DIG also includes our first premier of a vocabulary building exercise
intended to help the students contribute to building a GLOSSARY of terms
that all campers can benefit from. Teachers can decide which word each
student will write a definition for - or - can let students individually
or in teams select words to research and define. They are invited to
use the Internet, their school library, or dictionaries and encyclopedias
in the classroom or at home to complete their research. ANSWERS should
then be composed with the WORD as the lead, and then posted live in
the chat room this week by Friday. Let's see what they discover!
We also invite you to have students survey the Introduction to Ancient
Peoples that is being developed and having thumbnail images and links
added, and you will notice we are reorganizing the main history page's
resources and filling out the links. As this library builds-out over
the coming months you will have access to any of the resources anytime.
Each week will feature a new topic as these sections are made available,
and will then remain accessible for the remainder of the year.
Come DIG the Internet !
