Teacher Training
Technology proficiency training is built right into the Camp Internet program every step of the way. Teachers learn-by-doing and implement the skills they gain in their classrooms real time, year-round. Camp training begins in the summer for a 3 day workshop and continues during the school year with new learning units for teachers offered each month online. Camp also offers mid year technology proficiency in-service focused workshops with guest experts who focus on innovative classroom technology applications and skill development. The Camp Internet program enables teachers to meet twenty-two of the nationally recommended proficiency skill base goals with clear performance indicators. Geared for teachers
at all levels of technology proficiency, our teachers become Camp Internet
Outpost Leaders and share their knowledge with their students and fellow
colleagues, increasing the circle of Camp friends every year. Some of
our teachers may be using email for the first time, others are learning
to create an Internet Dig for the first time. The more advanced are adding
GPS coordinates to student-generated community maps and processing digital
video from local oral history projects. All levels of teachers are invited
and will find challenges that they enjoy tackling, and develop skills
they can implement in all areas of their teaching. |
