Cabrillo sailed north from Mexico into the Channel Islands waters with a crew of 250 in three boats.
They sailed through the Channel waters and saw many of the Channel Islands. They went ashore on Catalina Island and possibly San Miguel Island. They also visited villages at Gaviota and Carpinteria, both north and south of Santa Barbara. The Chumash had been hearing of the bearded strangers through traders arriving from the south, but had never seen a European before and at first welcomed them.


Cabrillo navegó al norte de México en las aguas de las islas del canal con un equipo de 250 en tres barcos.
