The special mission of the Captain was to help rescue the native islanders living on San Nicolas Island who were being threatened by otter hunters from the North Pacific and Russia. These brutal hunters had occupied their island and killed many of the population. The few that remained wanted to move to the mainland for protection.

La mision especial del capitan era ayudar a rescatar a los isleros nativos que vivian en la isla del San Nicolas que eran amenazados por los cazadores de la nutria del Pacifico y de la Rusia del norte. Estos cazadores brutales habian ocupado su isla y habian matado a muchas de la poblacion. El pocos que permanecian desearon moverse al continente para la proteccion.
