One of the hardest sides of the story to understand is the violence against the original inhabitants of this land, but it did happen, and we will explore why it happened, and what changes it lead to in improving American Indian policies. It is important to learn from history so mistakes are not repeated, and the Modoc Indian War is just such an example.
