Our lead System Administrator, Michael Ghens, is online to answer questions about listservs, email and such. Marcy and I will be online to discuss planning for the Fall. Remember, our Teacher's Chat sessions are for Problem Solving, and you may have the Solution, so let us know if you do. Introduce yourself when you come into the Chatroom. We'll start at 3 and will be open for two hours

Cressa Glenn @Oro Grande: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:04PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Hi, I just got the kids out the door. One of the questions that I have is that I am unsure when the native american unit is to be completed. I remember Marcy saying that not all the questions for expedition 1 are going to be there right away. I want to be able to assess the students for mid term on the Native American studies but, I want to make sure all the answers are posted on the sight first

trice: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:06PM PST (-0800 GMT)

: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:12PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Greetings - this chat room is open to our Outpost Leader / Teachers from 3-5 pm for an informal discussion. We expect diferent teachers to drop in at different times, and suggest you check back to answer any questions you may have been sent while you were off line. As you join us today, let us all know your name, school, grade level and the number of students you have using the Camp program. We would like to know which of the Camp resources you have been able to integrate into your classroom so far : Social Studies, Reading and /or Science ? And make an informal prediction as to which resources you see your students making the most use of in the next few months. This helps us balance out the information load as we get further into the program.

: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:13PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Cressa- when is your mid term ?

Timothy: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:16PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Trice - thanks for stopping in. We've got a session going tomorrow afternoon at 3 if you can make it and we'll have Teacher to Camp chats throughout the year. Keep an eye on your weekly Briefings and the Camp Calendar for schedules.

: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:16PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Hi, This is Ann Webb, 4/5 grade teacher at Mary Buren in Guadalupe joining in.

: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:18PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Cressa - we will be completing the Native American section by Thanksgiving if that helps you schedule testing. We should have all materials online no later than early November, possibly sooner. That will include everything needed to complete the first section of the passport.

Timothy: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:19PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Has everyone taken part in a Camp student chat through the weekly Internet Digs?

Cressa Glenn @Oro Grande: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:20PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Hi I'm back here. I had a parent stop here to talk.

Brian Bartlett: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:20PM PST (-0800 GMT)
I am having my class (32 of 'em) do basically everything. They do the famous authors, science, and social studies. We have done some fun projects so far, and have a lot to go. They liked getting on for their first dig today. They seemed a little unsure at the beginning, but after a half hour or so, they were all into it. We have been looking at life in an Indian village for social studies, and are going to weave some baskets tomorrow. They made some fossils, and wrote some fictional newspaper articles about finding fossils, then we made some and dug them up. They loved the story of John Muir in the tree tops during the wind storm. and drew some great pictures.

Marcy, Camp Counselor: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:21PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Hello Ann - I appreciate having been sent your suggestion for a corporation to contact so we can invite them to Adopt-a-Calssroom to cover year-end field trip costs. We have letters going out over the next few weeks to open up these conversations with potential sponsors. Could you possibly let us know who the public realtions person is that is their voice in the community and their mailing address and phone number ? That can be sent by email to camp2rain.org asap. Same goes for anyone else who will work with us to find corporate sponsors.

Marcy, Camp Counselor: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:22PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Brain, if you haven't sent them yet, please send digital files of the Muir photos to camp@rain.org - Cressa's class sent some great ones and we'd like to illustrate the section with student work to inspire others. Can you tell us about the fossil project ?

: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:22PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Markb-Hi everyone. I teachat Kimbark Elem in San Bernardino. I am teaming with Dave Goodward (out at Catalina) and Janice Waters and her 4th grade students. We just got back on line about 2 minutes ago. They have been working on school phones and bells all day today. I thought we wouldn't make it. We sare scheduled for the dig this Friday. I hope we are up for that!

Brian Bartlett: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:23PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Has anyone checked out the Gary Snyder books? Use CAUTION if you let your students look through them. His poetry books contain many innapropriate poems for use in the classroom. I still haven't found the poem from the Reading classroom yet though.

Cressa Glenn @Oro Grande: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:23PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Thank You for the answer. That helps. We are currently preparing power point presentation on John Muir and Mark Twain. WE are also reading Huckleberry Finn.

Timothy: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:25PM PST (-0800 GMT)
We will from time to time have both Camp Alumni and new Camp Teachers online together in a chat session. All you Alumni - jump in and let new Expedition Leaders know some of your experience.

Ron - Camp Counselor: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:25PM PST (-0800 GMT)
I work with all of the audio and video in Camp Internet, as well as some of the web work. If anybody has any technical questions regarding media or the web, I'm here to help.

Timothy: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:27PM PST (-0800 GMT)
General question to the group: Would you find a monthly edition of the Camp web on CD-Rom of value as a supplement to what time you can have the class online?

Timothy: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:28PM PST (-0800 GMT)
If you want to check out the video work Ron manages goto: button and check through the different parts of the archive.

Brian Bartlett: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:28PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Marcy, I sent some of the Muir pics up to you today. I am working on getting a group of students to take pictures of our fossil experience. I'll get them to you by the end of the week. The kids wrote a news article telling about eh fossil they found, before they knew anything about making them. When all the students were done writing, we dug a small shape into the ground, which we filled with casting plaster. (very cheap at your local hardware store/12$ for a 100 lb bag) We waited for fifteen minutes while it set up, then carefully dug them out of the ground. They look very realistic.

Cressa Glenn @Oro Grande: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:29PM PST (-0800 GMT)
I found a neat web site for literature. Have your class pick a biome of course we would pick the forrest and publish your writing. It is like a time capsule. The stories will stay there for 1000 years. Well, unless we don't have a world in 1000 years that is. Check it out. I will send it to the list serve.

Cressa Glenn @Oro Grande: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:32PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Brian, What sort of bone did you depict. I'm not so sure I would know what shape to make. I am very interested. How large of a bone did you make in the ground?

Timothy: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:32PM PST (-0800 GMT)
How many of our OutPost Leaders have had a chance to introduce their students to the Map Library in Camp? GOTO: button to explore the Library. Come back often as it will have new holdings all the time. Of much interest on that web is the Image Map of the Channel Islands - take your students to: button and click on different Islands to see what you find.

Cressa Glenn @Oro Grande: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:34PM PST (-0800 GMT)
That map is neat. I haven't been there since that changes were made.

Brian Bartlett: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:35PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Timothy, can you tell me more about the GPS situation? Are they available for loan? I have a couple of kids, who would rise to the challenge. I have worked with them a little. We have some regional park lakes within waliking distance from our school. We would like to try to plot them with a GPS and put them into the GIS. What is the name of the Redlands company again. I live and teach about 10 minutes from Redlands.

Janice Waters: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:36PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Hello, I am glad to be a part of this experience. See you on Friday.

Timothy: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:37PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Cressa - I look forward to seeing an Image Map like that of all our Camp Outposts at the end of this school year with information on as many class projects as possible built into the map.

Cressa Glenn @Oro Grande: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:37PM PST (-0800 GMT)
I am also interested in the GPS units. We live near the Mohave actually its dry but, there are a few places where we could find some water. Are we going to be representing man made water sources as well?

Brian Bartlett: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:38PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Cressa, The bones were anything from a big "blob" to a great back bone section. It just depended on how detailed the kids got when they were digging the mold for the plaster. The largest one this time is about 18 inches long. The smallest is about the size of your hand.

Cressa Glenn @Oro Grande: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:39PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Timothy, We are working on power p's of John Muir and Mark Twain. They will be finished Friday. Do you think I should send them as attachments or just snail mail a zip with them?

Timothy: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:40PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Brian - I'll have the GPS units ready for class use in two weeks. We'll log your class in for one of the units. We want to then begin building individual school web sites within Camp Internet to reflect the projects done with the GPS units.

Cressa Glenn @Oro Grande: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:40PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Brian, that sounds so neat. We have an excess of plaster at our school so that would work great. Did you do teams or have everyone do there own. I know there would be a fight over who got to take it home.

Brian Bartlett: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:42PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Ron, do you put the digital pics we send you onto the camp web site? I know there is a spot for Participants. Does this mean our classes? Is there a place for the kids to see the work we send to you?

Ron - Camp Counselor: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:42PM PST (-0800 GMT)
CRESSA - You should send the powerpoints via snail mail......are they in MAC format?

Cressa Glenn @Oro Grande: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:43PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Ron, are you kidding? Of course they are on pc's

Marcy, Camp Counselor: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:43PM PST (-0800 GMT)
One thing we need to start thinking about are the Fall Camp Community Nights - we will host a dig for the families to enjoy during your event - plus - send you refreshments and cookies - and where ever possible, also send out a Camp Counselor to co-host the event with you. Teachers have invited parents / grandparents / city council / school administrators / press to share in the fun for an evening - usually 7-9pm or 6:30-8:30pm. Ideally we would do these in November before Thanksgiving, or the first week in December. These are great family technology literacy nights - and - build up spirit towards the eyar end field trip.

Brian Bartlett: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:43PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Cressa, I poured one for each student. It was a real great thing to do, in responce to their hard work on the articles.

Cressa Glenn @Oro Grande: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:45PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Ron, I remember us discussing putting them in the mail and then someone sent me one as an attachment so I got all excited and thought I could attach them to you.

Timothy: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:45PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Cressa - send them first as attachments to camp@rain.org and if I can't get them online over the weekend we can resort to snail mail.

: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:45PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Hello, This is Dennis Reger Third Grade Dream Team 200 kids! We have been very frustrated with our computers. We were all set to dig in today. Nothing happened! It was so frustrating. The computers just wouldn't cooperate. You all who have been doing this as I hear are doing well. Being in the desert, we jumped on the weather station because we only get hot and dang hot here!

Ron - Camp Counselor: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:45PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Brian - I generally try to get everything of quality up that is sent to me, either with a field report or as part of a new photo album. There are a couple galleries of kids art up. Where I put things really depends on exactly what you send me.

Cressa Glenn @Oro Grande: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:46PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Marcy, Is there anyway I could do mine on October 14. We have open house night that night so all the parents will be here and we will be ready for them.

Brian Bartlett: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:46PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Marcy, could you e-mail my principal regarding the importance of the family night? I'm trying to set up a regularly schedule one, but could use some talking up for the project. melissa_wisner@ycjusd.k12.ca.us

Marcy, Camp Counselor: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:46PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Water testing - when we get to the water testing section that Cressa referred to, it will test natural bodies of water, well water, and city water where ever all three are available. Then classes will compare their local samples - and then compare that set to the other classrooms. We are wanting to get the GIS sever in place first so we can map these findings out visually.

Ron - Camp Counselor: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:47PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Cressa - The reason I asked is because after I copied your disk to my computer at the teacher training in Santa Barbara, my computer didn't let me open them with my powerpoint software - didn't even recognize the format of the files.

Markb: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:48PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Tech question-I had a message from Jjones today but MailMan on my iMac wouldn't open it. Is it the Mac or MailMan or...?

Timothy: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:49PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Dennis - send some details over by email - is your school having line problems and computer setup problems?

Marcy, Camp Counselor: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:49PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Hello Dennis -we saw your kids come online this morning, but thought they might not be using the scroll back button to get to the top of the page ? They didn't seem to be answering the specific quesitons, so we thought maybe they were only seeing the last few comments on the page. If that was the problem, try it now yourself to test it out. You enter a large number in the scroll back box, then click the chat button and its backs up to the top of the page. BTW - what is the temperature where you are ?

Cressa Glenn @Oro Grande: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:50PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Ron, I wondered why you didn't put the pp up. Are you using office 2000 because I currently have 98. I don't know if that would matter or not. I will copy the Catalina one for you on the zip that I send you. I use an Iomega zip.

Ann at Mary Buren: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:50PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Marcy, I will try to ge that information for you soon. We will keep out fingers crossed.

Dennis Reger Truman Elem Dream Team: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:50PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Marcy, We would love to do the water testing. How do we do this? We are interested in the Salton Sea water, which is not that far away from us as well as our local little lake! Do we send you the water samples or info we have collected?

Marcy, Camp Counselor: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:51PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Cressa - October 14 th is coming right up - the idea of combining it with a school night is good. I think we can work on that with you. what time ?

Timothy: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:51PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Regarding PC and MAC formats: We have a really great Mac PowerBook G3 setup at Camp Headquarters along with our PC's and can take artwork, class projects and such in either PC or MAC formats. So don' hesitate to send in examples of your students work.

Cressa Glenn @Oro Grande: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:52PM PST (-0800 GMT)
I believe that the open house will be at 7:00. They have free food for the families so we get a super turn out

Marcy, Camp Counselor: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:53PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Dennis - hold off on the water testing until we get the technolgoy in place to map it if you can please. Salton sea is a good idea. I believe the kits will let us do two set s of samples - 3 per event. So maybe we can arrange one test this fall and another in the spring during the water section and compare seasonal differences too ?

Brian Bartlett: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:53PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Marcy, I would like to have a parent/community night in December if possible. I go off track Oct. 22 to Nov. 22 Could we try for Dec. 6-10? Any time that week would be great.

Markb: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:54PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Tech answered-I just tried again on the above mesage from Jim Jones. It opened fine but I had to use AppleWorks to open his attachment.

Cressa Glenn @Oro Grande: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:55PM PST (-0800 GMT)
We still seem to be having problems with how to use the list serve. I saw the explanation but, I am still getting at least 10 messages addressed to other people

Cressa Glenn @Oro Grande: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:56PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Also, I am getting double messages for some reason.

Ron - Camp Counselor: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:57PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Cressa - I use '98 as well, strange.......but I will be overhauling that machine soon for it's many problems, so maybe that will solve it.

Dennis Reger Truman Elem Dream Team: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:57PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Tim and Marcy, It is really a tech problem. work orders in for them. When we clicked on the Get Send Message. The hour glass kept running for 15 minutes. We will try tomorrow. The kids are really jazzed about doing the dig!

Michael Ghens, System Administrator: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:57PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Cressa, What is the username that you are using.

Timothy: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:57PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Cressa - are you getting personal messages with the listserv address attached?

Ann at Mary Buren: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:57PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Have to log off there is a class coming in and we are being booted out. Will try to get to another computer.

Cressa Glenn @Oro Grande: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:58PM PST (-0800 GMT)
I got a new monitor last night. The Sylvania 17. I love it. Just thought everyone would want to know that in case they are shopping for a new monitor. It was only 199 at Costco.

Timothy: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 3:59PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Ann - thanks for taking part - remember tomorrow at 3 if you want to take part in that one

Cressa Glenn @Oro Grande: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:00PM PST (-0800 GMT)
I am using my redlodge11@hotmail.com account The messages today were about when everyone wants there nat parks rep to come. Thats not a list serve thing is it. It didn't seem like it was to me.

Dennis Reger Truman Elem Dream Team: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:02PM PST (-0800 GMT)
How do we use the List Serve. I was trying to locate it, but I couldn't find it anywhere. What do we go to? Cressa you are such an inspiration. You are doing so much! Tim and Marcy, Can we still use the GSI? It would be great to map out our area! Greg, thanks for the help over the phone. It was reassuring to me to know that Camp In was there for us!

Brian Bartlett: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:02PM PST (-0800 GMT)
I am having the class work on a fund raiser right now. It is sort of a "contact a school a thon." They have an e-mail message that they are sending to as many school as they can. We are getting replies back, which we will tally after two weeks, and collect our pledges. We already have over fifty replies, and it grows by the minute. Our district is in a real financial crisis right now, but still trying to raise any money is like pulling teeth. Our district admin. is really uptight about the whole fund raising thing. Does anyone want to share some info about grants?

Cressa Glenn @Oro Grande: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:05PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Brian, are you going to try the corporate sponsor thing. I think that would be really great. A start anyway. Dennis, Thank you for the compliment! I wonder if you couldn't put the dig on a zip until the computer problem is resolved.

Timothy: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:05PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Dennis - to use the listserv you send email to the list address. Michael will post the correct address. Once you send the email you are subscribed and receive the listserv email.

Cressa Glenn @Oro Grande: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:06PM PST (-0800 GMT)
I am so happy to see all of you on line. Last year it was pretty bleak out here. Good luck and good bye for now.

Markb: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:07PM PST (-0800 GMT)
We had a lunch snack stand w/our old principal but the new prin. wouldn't go for it. Made a lot of money but inventory and bookkeeping were awful. I am thinking of running an ad in the local paper just asking for money, but I think I will lose my job if I go through with it.

Dennis Reger Truman Elem Dream Team: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:08PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Brian It sounds interesting. There is an ePals Classroom Exchange at http:\\www.epals.com\login! There might be some possibles there? We still would like to have a school to exchange e-mail with Anyone there interested. We have cute third graders!

Marcy, Camp Counselor: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:10PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Brian - re: community night - that week looks good -Dec 6-10. We will be in the astronomy section and can feature some night sky resources. Best for us if it is the 7,8 or 9th. Just let us know asap.

Michael Ghens, System Administrator: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:11PM PST (-0800 GMT)
The Teachers list server is: camp99-teachers-l@rain.org

Markb: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:12PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Dig ?-If we have 11 computers going on the dig this Friday am, will we overtax the Rain server? I don't know how many computers jjones or kmarkos have.

Dennis Reger Truman Elem Dream Team: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:13PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Timothy, Where is the list serve? Is that like sending you are regular e-mail? Would that do it? It would really be helpful to have a regular way to communicate our great adventures so far together! This is truly awesome!

Marcy, Camp Counselor: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:14PM PST (-0800 GMT)
FUND RAISING - we will go to bat for you IF you will send us the name of the large companies in your area. We have a form letter ready to be customized to attract them to Adopt-your-Classroom. What we need are company names, CEO / public relations contact, mailing address, phone and fax 9 and an nte about what they do if it isn't obvious ). PLUS we will be needing press contact info - who to fax to in the edcuation section of your local or regional papers - that is persuasive visibility when it comes to attracting a sponsor. We will do the work on the mailing and folow up / press if you can help us identify the targets.

Marcy, Camp Counselor: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:15PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Dennis - from the sound of your list serv question I am thinking we do not have the email account that should be linked to you to receive the list mail. What is your email address ? We can set it up on our end easily if we know that.

Timothy: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:16PM PST (-0800 GMT)

Markb - now don't do anything rash for fund raising - how many students are you raising funds to take on the field trip ?

Michael Ghens, System Administrator: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:21PM PST (-0800 GMT)
11 computers should not be too bad. That is if they do not click the chat button all at once! That is, be gentle

Dennis Reger Truman Elem Dream Team: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:22PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Timothy, Marcy and Michael, Here is what we have for e-mail addresses: Dennisr@surf.dsusd.k12.ca.us Reger1@surf.dsusd.k12.ca.us Reger2@surf.dsusd.k12.ca.us Reger3@surf.dsusd.k12.ca.us Reger4@surf.dsusd.k12.ca.us The help would be most appreciated! Thank you for everything so far!

I'm going to see if I can upload a photo of our Camp Expedition crate. How have your classrooms been with setting up the Expedition Crate as a focus area?

Hi Marcy, We have 34 students in Janice's class. It isn't supposed to go higher. Probably won't go lower.

Marcy, Camp Counselor: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:28PM PST (-0800 GMT)

Adventurers! There are two great books put out by Michael Levine. The Address Book and the Kid's Address Book. These could be used for getting interest in Camp Internet. There are celebrities, athletes, entertainers, corporate excecs etc... and their addresses, e-mail and otherwise! We use it for e-mailing our favorite people! It is a great activity. You don't need to motivate kids to write to their favorites! They can hardly wait!

Markb: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:30PM PST (-0800 GMT)
So long everyone. Enjoy the hot and windy weather.

Marcy, Camp Counselor: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:31PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Markb - please find out what a bus trip for one day to Anacapa and back would cost from your local transport company - and what a two day trip to the Sequoias would cost. When we get that number from you, we'll know what we need to raise - plus food costs. Which destination do you prefer ? One day to Anacap or overnight at the Sequoias ? other option is a day trip to Joshua Trees.

Timothy: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:32PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Thanks for taking part Mark - its unusually hot up here in Buellton also.

Markb: . . . . Tue, Sep 28, 4:33PM PST (-0800 GMT)
Marcy, Our principal won't be back at school until Thursday. I'll ask him which he prefers. Joshua Tree would be the least expensive by far, but personally, I sure would like to go to the Sequoias

Timothy and Marcy! What time do the digs usually start? How long do they last? Our school starts at 8:30! We were ready by 8:45! That may have been part of our problem too! It is 104 degrees! That's cool for here! 70 is freezing weather!

Thanks to all of you for taking part in this first of our Teacher to Camp Internet chat sessions. We'll have a session scheduled for BackCountry and for Channel History at least once a month throughout the year. I look forward to sharing our learning experiences, exploring your different ways of implementing this new Technology into your classrooms and, perhaps best of all, solving problems together. Remember to check your weekly Expedition Briefings and your students weekly Briefing.
