Trinica and Magan - to tell you the truth, I had forgotten until doing this Dig that I was taken to the site where you find shark's teeth back when I was about your age and we chipped them out of a sandy cliff. Then in college, we hiked back behind Chico and saw seashells in the hillsides where it was once ocean, and that is way inland in the foothills of the Sierras - I was impressed !

Neil - The FIRST mammoths on the Channel Islands were the huge Columbian types that were 14 feet high - that's as high as a roof today ! Then the pygmys slowly dwarfed and you are right about their height ... but I think that's too many zeros - how much did they weigh ?
