Lets step back to life in California during the period known as Alta California. This is the time when Spanish settlement had begun with the founding of the first Missions and Presidios. The land was occupied by the native inhabitants, and on the Channel Islands and nearby mainland, these were the Chumash and Gabrielino. We will now DIG into the past and learn about the unusual events that shaped California history .. and maybe even see whose face was beneath the mask of Zorro !
