Welcome Ridgeview School ! We are eager to hear your Yosemite field reports today. Please introduce yourselves when you arrive, and then answer the following questions : do you know what the lattitude and longitude was in Yosemite Valley ? What was the weather like for your expedition ? Please describe the plants you saw. What animals did you see or learn about ? What did you learn about glacial geology ? What was the most AMAZING thing you saw or learned ?

Camp Internet Expedition Team: . . . . Wed, Jun 21, 8:26AM PST (-0800 GMT)
Also, please give some thought to this question ... If you could talk to John Muir today, what would you want to say to him about his life, about his work, and about the impact he has had on environmental efforts ???

The art above was done by artists who greatly loved the California Backcountry and who devoted a good portion of their life to living or working there. The paintings are from the late 1800s, and the photogrpah from the mid 1900s.

We liked when we were in Yossemite and our tour guide took us around and we got to climb around in these tunnels that Indidans used to live in. We also liked hikeing to Yosemite Falls because we got to stand on the bridge and mist would fall down on us. When we were in Yosemite we learned how to identify trees. We became pretty good at that. Our trip to Yosemite was lost of fun.

We saw a large variety of animals. Some of the main birds were Stellar's Jays and something that looked like orioles. We saw a mule deer doe crossing the road, and Sunday morning there were 6 mule deer bucks by the Camp Curry stage. Their antlers were young and velvety, hiding the keratin. I like mule deer because their ears are large. Jerry said mule deer are the only kind of deer in Yosemite. Mr. Bartlett saw a bear in the camp at morning, raiding a trash can!!! I wish I could have seen that. We also saw practically 1,000,000,000 squirrels, especially near Mirror Lake, where we stopped for lunch. I was amazed when Jerry explained that deer was the most dangerous animal in Yosemite, followed by squirrels. I was sad to read on a sign that a deer had recently killed a 5-year-old boy. Luckily, our class didn't have any problems.

Brian and Nathan ( Mr. Barlett's class): . . . . Wed, Jun 21, 11:42AM PST (-0800 GMT)

My favorite part of Campinternet was when we did the chats and digs. My favorite chat was the railroard chat. It was fun. When we did it with partners it was easyier. It was easyier because when I was doing one question my partner could be doing the next one. I also liked working on thepassport. My favorite parts were PlantCommunites,Native Americans, and Earth Science. Campinternet was fun and I loved doing it. I wish we could do it again in fifth grade.

I learned with Jarrey thatburnung down forest is good because it will help other trees grow . It will also help grass grow.

Alexis (Mr.Bartlett's class): . . . . Wed, Jun 21, 12:20AM PST (-0800 GMT)
I remember that burning the pine needles would be good to do so that more plants grow.

Scott MR. Bartletts class: . . . . Wed, Jun 21, 12:20AM PST (-0800 GMT)
When we were in Yosemite I learned from our guide Jerry that burning the forest woult actually help it. There is grass under all the pine cones and stuff and if the pine cones were burned the grass would grow. Then there would be more animals around because the animals eat the grass. The forest woul also look more beautiful.

Zak : . . . . Wed, Jun 21, 12:20AM PST (-0800 GMT)
I've learned alot in the past year from Camp Iternet. They tought me many things about the earth and animals, and many other things.

Vince Mr. Bartlett's class: . . . . Wed, Jun 21, 12:24AM PST (-0800 GMT)
When I was in Yosemite I learned that it would help because underneth the pine needles were pine cones and moss that didn't make the forest look good. It would help the trees and make the forest look good. I think Jerry was a good teacher while I was at Yosemite.

Nick(Mr.Bartlettsclass): . . . . Wed, Jun 21, 12:24AM PST (-0800 GMT)
Jerry told us that forest fires were good because they burned all the small trees and pine needles. The burnt pine needles act like a furtiliser to the soil and then more plants can grow.
