Welcome to the Camp Internet Summer Teacher Training Channel Islands Internet Dig. Over the four days of your workshop you will have a variety of experiences ~ from quiet museum tours to strenuous island exploration. This variety of experience reflects the true nature of the challenges researchers face in studying the Channel Islands: how do you turn the challenging life on a remote island, where day to day survival is a tremendous challenge, into a learning experience that mainland observers can learn from to better understand the complexities of island life? Your experiences will show you how hard it must have been for the Native people and early settlers to create a sustainable village or ranch life on these remote islands, isolated from the mainland, living on rugged rocky terrain, with out the comforts of an easy transportation system, supermarkets, doctors, and close by neighbors. How did they survive ? …….. Let’s look for answers to these challenges, and learn more about the secrets of the islands, in this Internet Dig .

As far as question 8 goes...The images in the paintings are being interpreted by scholars as celestial bodies - stars, planets, constellations, the milky way, the sun and the moon. There are also images that have human-like heads with striped bodies - thought to be their shame, the religious leaders of the aantap mystic cult. Animals are also featured - forms that look like swordfish, salamanders, centipedes, and indescribable beings with strange legs and heads and undulating bodies are common.
