After the first years of the Gold Rush, other explorers came to California and these people were hunting for the wealth of California’s natural wonders. These men and women hiked into the untouched California Backcountry and climbed mountains, descended into steep valleys, and as John Muir would say – enjoyed their RAMBLINGS through the mountains. These painters – men and women – became the foundation of the California Impressionist movement. Their work often captured the rugged, or rolling, California landscape, and celebrated the untouched natural environment they found in the new State. Look for the landscape by Granville Redmond.
