We did learn about geology. We learned about soap stone and how it was used for cooking. This was because it could withstand heat without cracking like normal rock. We also learned that Catalina is made mainly of blue-rock schist.

GEOLOGY QUESTIONS - Who has seen the volcanic ash and rocks right there at the Wrigley Center Cove ? Did you know Catalina was formed by a volcano that spewed up out of the sea ??? And that there was once another sea floor / tectonic plate out there that was crushed down under the North Atlantic plate and got SO HOT under all that pressure that it became the volcanoe that made the Island ???
