Deep in the mountains and precipitous canyons of the Sierra de San Francisco of the Baja California peninsula in northwest Mexico lies some of the world's most spectacular rock art.
The people who painted them remain a mystery .. believed by some to have been a race of giants. Lets look at the sites and you can decide for yourself WERE THEY A RACE OF GIANTS ?

Dulce-Question 1: Baja California is located below California on a map and it's near the Pacific Ocean. On the other side of Baja is the Golf of Califonia.

In our research from the dig relating top the"Land of the Giants", the students of Fleming Middle School ( Mr. Owls) have commented on the size of the murals
button being at least 15 car lengths and three stories high . Another amazing fact commented on was the colors of the painting were still vibrant even after a thousand years beind exposed to the weather and erosion. How and Why were such large figures created ?

We got several estimates on how old the art work was . Nick and Jesse guessed 5,000 years old, Navaro said 6,000 but Jabaree said 1,500 years old because he remembered reading in the text. Jesse commented that this was the best display to teach the students about Ancient Native history sofar.
The kids are looking forward to answering some more of the questions.

The animals that were depicted in murals were mule deer, desert bighorn sheep, pronghorn antelope, mountain lions, and rabbits. There were also marine animals like fish, sea turtles, and stingrays. There were also many birds depicted in the murals.

Mathew and Brian, answered on the location of Baha California, that it was below Tiajuana and went down 1000 miles to Cabo St. Lucas. I asked what Baha means in Spanish and Karimy said it mean "below" and that the name made sense.

It is 9,000 years ago but it is the mysterious rock art that is the strongest reminder of an early people who sought to sustain life in the rocky canyons 1500 years ago. The rock art is in the form of large continuous murals stretching long lenths of dry canyon walls.
