Other solutions the project offers to rural communities includes training a Neighborhood Technology Leader who then develops technology master families who share their knowledge with their neighbors, creating a ripple effect. To support these families, RAIN has developed an equipment loan program that circulates set top television Internet devices to families who have undergone three training sessions in the Internet van or at a local community location. It is very important that families learn to use the technology in the comfort of their home - and come to recognize that there are means of viewing the resource available on the Internet at a cost similar to acquiring their VCR.
