New mapping Technology!
As part of its community work, RAIN is setting up an exciting new GIS (Geographic Information Systems) mapping system. Recent advances in technology allow people to browse complex GIS maps using only an internet browser. Once fully in place the system will be used as a project management tool and as a community resource portal for residents. A basic map of DLT's rural communities is now available at gis.rain.org. The map is currently under development, but it won't be long before you will be able to explore community resources and events for yourself with our interactive GIS maps! Telemedicine Health Information System coming!
RAIN is on the brink of unveiling a new Rural Telemedicine health information system. With web and video resources under development, final decisions are now being made for the first batch of Telemedicine kiosks to be placed in the communities of Nipomo, Oak View, and New Cuyama. This new system will provide health and wellness resources to rural communities that were not previously available, as well as train doctors how to effectively use telemedicine resources to better their community. With videos, a chat room, calendars, and a searchable health information directory, this new system will serve as an effective rural health care management tool. |
