Issues Discussed -
1) Outreach for Youth Technology Corp - people to contact:
Scott Knucales - Tech Coordinator for Lucia Mar School District,
Kelly Clark - AYSO, Eileen - Lifebound Leadership in San
Luis Obispo. Council member and John Dutra can bring some
youth into the program after school starts in August.
2) Outreach for a local computer teacher/coordinator: Council
member Maggie Layns knows someone that might be interested,
meeting attendees will spread the word.
3) Review possible computer education sites: Nipomo School
hosts an adult education program in a computer lab which
might be usable for DLT education, council member Collette
Bachtel brought up the Nipomo Recreation Center as a possible
site, and council member Maggie Layns brought up that the
Lighthouse Christian Center she works with might have room
for computers, and already hosts a youth group which would
make for good outreach.
4) Nipomo is growing fast and new facilities are coming:
Nipomo Rec Center will be erecting a new youth center in
the park soon, and a new High School is coming to Nipomo
in the Fall of 2002. These structures should be considered
in future DLT project plans.
5) DLT Nipomo web could link more extensively to San Luis
Obispo County Information, and could contain more information
on "growth management", to assist Nipomo residents in dealing
with future growth
