Smart Medical Appliances
With the pressing need for more cost-effective and easy to use telemedicine solutions, the RAIN Network has been working with the Landon Pediatric Foundation to develop "Smart Medical Appliances" geared towards community wellness and telemedicine education. RAIN's recent efforts have been focused on creating a tool that will allow Doctors to bring telemedicine into rural communities with as little cost and training as possible. What we have come up with is a telemedicine package that can be used to store-and-forward patient information, videoconference with other doctors and specialists, and capture your own video segments for use with doctor and patient education. This functionality comes at a third of the cost of other telemedicine units, and is easier to use as well. The portable telemedicine unit comes with the following components:
· TeleEye Video Telephone· Laptop computer
· Welch Allyn/AMD camera and illumination unit
· Video Opthalmoscope
· Video Otoscope
· Video Dermascope
· Halogen Light Source cord
· C-mount Camera cord
· Surge Protector
