Highlights This Week –
We
invite you to post a CLASS HELLO in your track’s Field
Report room and to then discover the fun online INTERNET DIG
activities Tuesday the 16th - Monday the 22nd
6am-3pm PST, Monday-Fridays ( now open early for our Eastern Campers)
Your
Track’s Feature:
GIS
is starting to learn about geography and map making in the current
Dig and it encourages follow up with GPS or GIS exercises right
in the school yard.
Other
interactive activities going on that you could assign for student
learning activities :
Ancient
Southwest is featuring a new Internet Dig all are welcome to use
– Discover The Great Mysteries of the Ancient Southwest – and
this interactive Q&A exploration goes back further in time
than you might ever have imagined …
Backcountry
is doing the fun ‘Outdoor Living – Bully!’ Internet Dig featuring
the John Muir and President Teddy Roosevelt camping trip that
changed the American wilderness forever by leading to the National
Parks System.
Channel
Islands is learning about the Island of the Blue Dolphins in ‘
How did Karana Survive’ which includes some interesting film history
components.
American
History is meeting America’s First Peoples and our early European
settlers in the new Dig.
Global
Garden is getting to learn about ‘The Three Sisters’ in an Internet
Dig introducing Native American gardening practices in use today
by many Americans.

Tip
: If time does not allow each student to complete all Dig questions
– divide questions up among the group and then once posted, have
one read their different question and answer to the room so all
learn together. Also, be sure to use the stored Internet Digs
in your track, available any day, any time, as student research
assignments. These are accessed from the ACTIVITY link at top
of your Trail Head. These provide valuable structure and guidance
in using the resources.
