Radishes
This hardy vegetable can be grown anywhere, and reaches maturity within 30
days after planting.
-Planting: Seeds should be sown in furrows ¾ of an inch deep, in rows
spaced 12 inches apart as soon as the ground can be worked. Small bands
of seeds can be sown every 2 weeks for a continuous harvest.
-Growing: Seedlings should be thinned to stand about 2 inches apart, with
a layer of mulch applied when they reach 3 inches in height. The plants
should be kept well watered and continuously supplied with compost.
-Harvesting: Roots should be harvested while they are still young and
tender, and not be allowed to become overripe and split.
