Youth as Change Agents



A RAIN presentation at the
California State Leadership Conference
hosted by
U C Cooperative Extension and the
4-H Program
Riverside, California
August 8, 1998
RAIN is an invited presenter at the 4-H Leadership Conference this year, and the topic being presented is the role of Youth as Change Agent in their Communities. The presenter is Mr. Carl Demangate, RAIN Board Member, and director of the Arts and Technology Workshop at Santa Barbara High School. Carl is joined in the presentation by youth spokespersons from Santa Barbara to demonstrate the important position youth can take in our communities as catalysts for getting communities online and involved in sharing local and global information with one another.

Featured RAIN programs that are used as examples include : The Neighborhood Green Net, Camp Internet, the RAIN Rural Distance Learning and Telemedicine Project, The Technology Literacy Challenge project, and La Comunidad.
