The Eye Toy
Gamers have long used the first person to refer to the character they're controlling, but with Sony's
new PS2 peripheral, the Eye Toy, it literally is “I” in the games.
Eye Toy: Play is both a peripheral –
a webcam-like device that sits on top of your television
– and a set of 12 games.
Playing the games – which puts you right in the middle of the screen, wiping suds off windows,
knocking down high-kicking ninjas, boxing a robot chimp, boogie-ing or even getting your rights,
lefts, ups and downs seriously confused – is more akin to some sort of fairyland activity.
