With Gary Sullivan on board as a Naturalist/Photo ID and myself along with 85 passengers from many parts of the world and the US, including Santa Barbara and Carpinteria, we set off on a journey from the SB Harbor with Capt's Matt and Dave and Brook in the galley.
We headed out to San Miguel and after approximately 2.5 hours we came upon a great group of whales, both Humpbacks and Blues. We identified 6 Blues and 9 Humpbacks and there were a great many spouts in the distance in every direction. We were at Black Cod hole when we came across the Whales.
In addition to the many whales, we also saw two groups of Risso's (approxmitely 50 in total) and a small group of commons (100).
The journey was a little bit rough going out but once we reached our destination the sun came out and all of the passengers throughly enjoyed the trip.
