For those concerned about ocean polution, California's third largest city passes a ban on plastic bags with a 10-1 vote on Tuesday! Paper bags will cost the shopper $ in the near future, as well. <http://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2010/12/15/San-Jose-adopts-plastic-shopping-bag-ban/UPI-67941292444366/>. This metropolitan center of Silicon Valley lies at the southern base of San Francisco Bay, and a large % of the total debris that finds its way into the Bay has historically migrated toward that end of the Bay. Evidence is cited indicating at least one million plastic bags a year become water born debris within the Bay. Paul Petrich P.S. I found nothing of this mentioned in the Santa Barbara News-Press. Anything in the Ventura paper? I read about it in San Jose.
