 3 humpbacks
1000 commons
1/2 dozen Rissos

46 passengers enjoyed a warm, clear and calm day on the water yesterday. Within 20 minutes Capt. Dave found a bird, sea lion, dolphin feeding frenzy. Then, heading south and east the Condor passed the platforms and headed towards where humpbacks have been recently seen. Almost continuously, scattered commons were in sight. At approximately the same location as other recent sightings, 3 whales appeared and one, who seems to be somewhat of a pet, was immediately identified as "Rope". These were lazy humpbacks today, lounging on the surface, taking short deep dives and providing good fluke photo ops.

The Condor proceeded to SCI where many sea lions, birds and more commons were seen. Then, after an encounter with semi-friendly Rissos, back across the channel and still more scattered commons. Passengers were from India, Germany, Holland, Scotland, Washington DC and other points; even some from the exotic port of Santa Barbara! Bart Francis and John Kuizenga (PID) were also aboard to enjoy this fine day.
