1000 common dolphins
3 humpbacks
Very exciting trip the swells where coming from two directions so it was a bit
rough out there epically heading east. 25 passengers only 1 was from
California. Denmark Finland the UK and more.
The pod of dolphins was quite spread out
just at the end of the dolphin viewing did the come together for a good show.
The 3 humps where very active. It took a while to get settled on them. First
they where a mile off the bow so we traveled maybe half that distance. Stopped
to get a sighting and then they where off the stern quite a way out. But when we got
to them it was a really fun show. It turned out to be two males and one female.
After
a bit of time it became clear that the two males where in a fight over the gal.
It started out with a breach than the two males where bouncing off each other
when they came up to breath. We saw that at least 8 or more times. I also saw
after one collision one take a sharp turn and saw its pump its fluke 3 or 4
times as it turned, it was really moving WOW! Near the end of all this before we
headed home you could see the battle scars in the head of the smaller of the
two males. I could really feel the intensity of it all. This was a first for me.
Thanks Captain Dave and crew you where awesome as always.
