[CINC] Condor Sun April 3rd

9am

While leaving  harbor : Eared grebes, 15+ Western Grebes, 12+ Surf scoters
in addition to the usuals

Lots of sea lions at buoy and thermoregulating near shore

Several hundred Brandts headed north for their migration in many long
formation lines

15+ Royal terns

Lots of phalaropes

2+2+1 Humpbacks with good fluking, some trumpeting, and a tail throw and a
close breach

6-7 additional breaches off in the distance

 

Noon trip

1+2 Humpbacks

Headed straight out to the area of humpbacks and saw 1 that we stayed with a
while who make several close encounters next to and directly in front of the
boat

(s)he made a huge tail throw where everything from back of dorsal fin was up
and out of the water

2 Humpbacks (in looking at my PID shots) that were the same 2 whales we saw
on the morning trip

Lots of flukes

Lots more spouts in the distance
