We remain hopeful that the federal government will not shut down, but are
preparing in case that happens.
In the event of a shutdown, national parks and all visitor facilities and
services managed by the National Park Service will be closed. All
scheduled government and permitted events will be canceled or postponed.
If no budget agreement is in place by the end of today, Friday, April 9,
2011, the government will shut down at midnight. If this happens all
volunteer work and activities will be cancelled until further notice. Those
of you scheduled for volunteer activities this weekend should monitor the
news Friday night and Saturday morning for the status of government
operations.
If there is a shutdown do not report for your volunteer duty or activity.
This means if the government shuts down do not show up for your activity
Saturday, Sunday or any other day until you hear from us and we tell you it
is permitted to resume volunteer activities.
In the event of a shutdown, we will send an update to all volunteers only
after the shutdown has ended and we return to work.
