Ahoy Mates,
The Double Dolphin, skippered by mike, sailed on both scheduled outings today. Mike dodged the worst of the small craft warning winds and swells by staying close to shore in hopes of intercepting Gray moms and calves migrating north. With 30 aboard at noon we west as far as Goleta Pier, and with 34 aboard at 3 p.m. we traveled east as far as the Mira Mar. No sightings to report. Even sea birds were scarce on the choppy waters. However, all aboard were able to disembark on both trips after passing the test required: to identify which pinnipeds were seals and which were sea lions, as we entered the harbor. We did see some surfing Common Dolphin in the surf line on the last trip, to the delight of the kids aboard. Paul
