Hi Naturalists,

1 very elusive Gray Whale
few Sea lions both on buoy and in water

Double Dolphin under Captain Michael's helm (Kara as 1st mate), and
myself, hosted 49 passengers from near (SLO, L.A., Chicago), and far
(Germany, Sweden). We saw Brown Pelicans and Sea Lions as we left the
harbor. It is always so much fun to ride on the DD. Many young human
ones were happily getting wet. The day was windy but sunny and warm.
We coasted along and spotted shy Grays at a distance a couple of
times, but the only one I logged-in was in the kelp forest near the
Light house, since it was seen by many, including the captain. No
whales was an opportunity for me to talk to small groups of passengers
about these awesome, mesmerizing animals, their amazing migration
journey, and their habitats both in the cold, icy north, and warm
southern lagoons of Baja California. The day was gorgeous and the
people were friendly and inquisitive. The Captain asked for a show of
hands indicating they had not seen the Gray surface. Many raised their
hand, but at the end of the trip, all were given "rain" coupons for
another day. That was a nice gesture and the passengers appreciated
it. We all left the boat feeling relaxed and happy after a wonderful
few hours out in the SB Channel.
