>From what I've been reading, the prehistoric southern Californians had a *Mola
mola* fishery set up dating back at least 8,000 years as evidenced by the
bones found in middens on the Santa Barbara coast, Catalina and San Clemente
Island. There is even a cool *Mola mola* pendant carved from shell that was
found. Over the past 2 weeks we have seen schools of juveniles, some up to
100 individuals, with lots of jumping (breaching) going on. *Mola*'s are
cool.
