4 Grays
1000+ Common dolphins

A brisk off shore wind delayed Island Packers' decision as to whether to venture
out but finally at 11:45 all systems were go. The stalwart group who blew into
the office for sign up were rewarded to a very pleasant trip. The wind's
direction caused no problem for Capt. Anthony who adroitly navigated the
Islander. It subsided enough to keep all but an unfortunate few from "mal de
mer" who were ably and kindly assisted by Paige and Steve.

A lively pod of commons, approximately 40% calves, meet us close to Santa Cruz
followed by a single gray who tricked us by heading north. We then followed
three grays heading south. One veered off behind Anacapa while the other two
delighted us with several flukes staying on the north side of the island .

Great fun to be out and always a pleasure to join Tom Flor.

Many thanks to all at Island Packers,

Deb Clark
