AM
a handful common dolphins
49 high school students with their church group from Lancaster were, for the
most part, unfazed by the rain
and dearth of cetaceans. The good humored students delighted in a small pod of
commons on the way back into the harbor.

PM
a half dozen bottlenose
possibly the same handful of commons ??

10 hearty souls from Holland and Santa Barbara ventured out of the harbor at 1
PM in the pouring rain. Despite my silent objections I joined them. 50 minutes
out of the harbor, thunder and lightening forced our diligent captain, Chris, to
return to port ably assisted by a dripping wet but still cheerful first mate,
Clare.

I gratefully brought full rain gear including rubber boots which are drying by
the heater at this very moment. An eventful beginning for our only sailing
whale watching vessel.
