Greetings CINC Volunteers:
The gray whale watching season is in full swing and we hope you are all
able to get out on the water this month. We still have quite a few
openings on the March whale watch schedule so be sure to visit
VolunteerSpot to sign up for more trips. And please keep an eye on the
outreach calendar, we are still looking for help with the March 20th
Celebration of Whales at Channel Islands Harbor.
As a follow-up to Joel's email below regarding the new sighting log
forms, please read this important message:
We are having some issues with the distance values we added to the new
sightings log forms. We ask that you *_do not enter a value at this time
until further notice_*. We are working on a solution that will support
the end product use of the sightings data for resource protection (e.g.,
mapping endangered whales in proximity to the shipping lanes).
Thank you for your cooperation and stay tuned for further updates
regarding this matter!
