3-gray whales
1000 common dolphin
30 bottlenose
Am trip about 30 passengers, smooth waters rain storms surrounding us. About half to Anacapa we got to enjoy a large pod of dolphin. Captain Dave and crew took time out to take another balloon out of the water, said they actually retrieved over 300 balloons last year. Right in front of oil platform Gail we spotted 3 gray whales north bound. On the way back we cruised along the coast and found some bottlenose right by Ventura fair grounds. Seem they were in a rest mode according to Captain Dave. I had a question about if they gathered seagull eggs on Anacpa to sell. I really did not get enough info but the passenger that inquired said he read about it in our paper. Well after looking in the paper and not finding it I asked the passenger and he found it for me. They actually were collected in 1850 and the eggs were sold in San Francisco. It got me to thinking what seagull eggs would taste like and they do actually serve them in England.
